We do not recommend installing a smoke detector in the following cases:

• Outdoors
• In a place where the alarm would be difficult to hear (room with a closed door)
• In a place where the detector would be difficult to reach, particularly to perform tests
• In a place where the temperature is less than 4°C or higher than 45° C
• In a place where the humidity is less than 10% or higher than 95% (bathroom, kitchen, laundry, etc.)
• In a place subject to wide and/or rapid fluctuations in temperature, pressure or humidity
• In a place where the sun falls directly on the detector • In a dusty or dirty place (garage, workshop, etc.)
• In a place infested with insects
• In a place where parasite smoke could interfere with the smoke detector: kitchen, fireplace, garages (exhaust fumes), furnaces, boilers, combustion radiators, etc.
• Near heating appliances, windows, air conditioning, fans or any other equipment which may generate air flows
• Near a place which is hotter or colder than the rest of the room (uninsulated walls, trap-doors, etc.)
